Ordinance 910-23 - A Dangerous Law
Ordinance 910-23 was passed in March, 2006 by Cincinnati City Council. One of the goals of this law was to reduce the number of handguns on the streets of Cincinnati. Exactly the opposite has happened.
Since this law went into effect:
- The number of firearms seized by the police has decreased by 20%. - Chart
- The number of handguns used in crimes has increased by 56% - Chart
- The number of firearms used in crimes has increased by 102% - Chart
Ordinance 910-23 has not only failed in its goal of getting more handguns off the streets, our city is less safe than before this law went into effect.
